DO YOU KNOW THAT KIND OF WRITER’S BLOCK WHERE YOU ALREADY HAVE A PLOT, YOU KNOW WHAT TO WRITE BUT YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO WRITE IT AND YOU JUST STARE AT THE COMPUTER SCREEN FOR HOURS UNTIL YOU FINALLY CLOSE THE DOCUMENT AND CURSE YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE
CAUSE I DO
Yess and then you go but whyyyy
Write down your plot. It doesn’t need to be well-written, it just needs to record what you know of the story so far. If you’ve already done that, go over that outline and add in more details, including lines of dialogue and description as they occur to you.
Eventually you’ll strike upon a few lines that can fit in your first draft. Then a few more.
It’s a slow process but it’s faster than staring at the screen until you break down in despair, speaking as someone who’s done both.
This is totally great advice and you should follow it! I spend too much time putting my plot in fancy outline formats but it helps me hammer down who’s important and what needs to happen then. The writing doesn’t always follow the outline, but it gives me somewhere to go.
If you can’t write your story, try to write something! It will help!
